Cinderella's stepfather remarried a horrid wife, who made her life miserable. Her and her two daughters treated Cinderella like their servant. The King's son invited everyone in the land to a ball. With help from her fairy godmother, Cinderella goes to the ball in a gilded coach, and a beautiful gown. The King's son thought she was lovely, and Cinderella attends the ball again the next night. This time she leaves a glass slipper behind, and the King's son searches out to find her.
I would use this book in the classroom to introduce traditional literature. I would make a web as a class, of traditional literature or fairy tales that the class knows, and what characteristics make up this type of literature. Then I would give them a choice of reading any traditional literature book they want, and write a response to that particular book.
