Three Cheers for Tacky by: Helen Lester (fantasy)

There were a group of penguins named Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly, Perfect and Tacky. Tacky was the "odd" bird out of the group. One day at school they noticed an advertisement for a cheering contest. The Penguin class that won the cheering contest would win shiny blue bow ties. They practiced and practiced for their cheer. All of the other penguins could cheer and chant in unison, but Tacky could not get the cheer right. In the end, the judges liked Tacky's unique cheer, and their class ended up winning the cheer contest.

If I noticed that students in my classroom were being mean to a particular student because they were "different", I could read this book to show that everyone is unique and different, and everyone has something that they are good at. Then I would assign everyone a partner, and tell them to share with their partner something that they are good at, and something that makes them "different" from everyone else. Then I would ask each group to share what they learned about their partner, to the class.
